Velma I (Reitz) Lauer

Velma I. Lauer, 88, of Lucinda passed away suddenly on January 27, 2015 at her home.

Born on March 2, 1926 in Cool Springs, PA she was the daughter of Walter C. and Elva E. Myers Reitz.

On June 4, 1955 she was married to Augustine (Jack) B. Lauer Jr. who preceded her in death on July 29, 1991.

Velma was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg and the St. Michael Rosary Society.

She enjoyed completing word searches, quilting, and canning.

Velma is survived by a son Clair E. Reitz and wife Judy of Lucinda, a daughter Dottie Lauer of Lucinda, A son Mike Lauer of Shippenville, a son John Lauer of Lucinda, a son Bob Lauer and wife Ruth of Clarion and a daughter Connie Lauer of Lucinda. Grandchildren surviving inlcude: Rev. Matthew Reitz and wife Younga, Cheryl Reitz, Amy Alford and husband Dave and Kristy Boozer and husband Charles. Great-grandchildren surviving include David Rylan Alford, Waylon Everett Boozer and Sabrina Alford. She is also survived by her siblings: brother Beryl Reitz of Venus, sister-in-law Bertha Reitz of Summerville, sister-in-law Donna Reitz of Warren, brother-in-law Paul Lauer and wife Lois of Shippenville, and sister-in-law Ione Lauer of Lucinda.  Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Velma was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, a daughter Sara Reitz, brothers: Eugene, Lee and Dale Reitz, sister Lois Schill, and sister-in-laws Bernice A. Reitz and Loretta Reitz.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Friday, January 30, 2015 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. 

Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, January 31, 2015 in St. Michael Church with Rev. D.G. Davis III Pastor of St. Michael Church presiding.Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the service.
