Sara "Sallie" M. Gilford, 80, of Tionesta, passed away June 15, 2012 at Golden Living in Shippenville.
Born on November 5, 1931 in Oil City and she was the daughter of J. Earl and Mildred L. McFall.
Sara graduated from Oil City High School in 1949.
On August 9, 1952 she was married to Robert J. Gilford who preceded her in death on November 28, 2009.
Sara was of the Protestant Faith.
She worked at Quaker State Corporation for 20 years.
Sara was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed watching them whenever she could. Her greatest joy was her annual family July 4th picnic on the farm.
Sara is survived by sons Steven Gilford and his wife Beth of Tionesta and Chris Gilford and his wife Cindy of Fayetteville NC. A daughter Kathy Lawson and her husband Lucien of Erie PA.
Also surviving are grandchildren: Erik Gilford of Girard, Jay Gilford of Tionesta, Jennifer Borden of Washington PA, Robert Hornaman of Erie, and Sean Gilford of Chicago IL. Brothers Bruce McFall of Oil City and Clark A McFall of Sarasota FL; and sisters Bettie Hughs of Oil City, Rita Watson of Elkhart, IN, Mary Gray of Phoenix AZ, and Alma Pearson of Arvada CA also survive. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Sara was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter Carol Beth Gilford, Brothers Albert and Dennis and sisters Marjorie Johnston, Shirley Kooman, and Carol Mathers.
Friends will be received from 7-9 pm on Monday June 18, 2012 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg.
Burial will be in the Lickingville Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice or a charity of ones choice.
