Roland C. McAfoose, 81 of Tionesta, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012 at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh.
Born on May 31, 1931 in Marienville he was the son of the late George and Geraldine Lachner McAfoose.
Roland attended Farmington High School. He then served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 and earned the rank of Corporal.
On April 11, 1953, Roland was married to the former Beverly Amsler who survives.
He was a member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Leeper.
Roland worked as a Sub-Foreman for National Fuel Gas Supply and retired from there in 1987 after 27 years of service.
He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Roland is survived by his wife and their children: Carol Ruhlman and her husband Dennis of Warren; Rhonda Driver and her husband John of Erie; Clay McAfoose and wife Nanette of Meadville; and Lisa Reeher and husband Matthew of Tionesta. Surviving also are grandchildren are Christopher, Derek, Andrew, Cameron, Morgan, Emily, Mason, and Adam; and great-grandchildren Trenton, Lyla, Adalynn, and Connor.
Roland's siblings surviving are sister Lillian Dusch and husband Donald of Jackson Center; brother Arthur McAfoose of Brockport; brother Richard McAfoose and wife Jane of Georgia; sister La Rue Pangallo of Siegel; brother Floyd McAfoose and wife Deanne of St. Mary's; brother Harold McAfoose and wife Lora of Lander; sister Louise Graver and husband Cletus of Kirkwood; sister-in-law Beulah McAfoose of Tidioute; and sister-in-law Mary McAfoose of Ohio. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald and Wesley, and a brother-in-law Eugene Pangallo.
Friends will be received on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 5-8pm at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg.
Funeral services will be celebrated at 11am on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Leeper with Rev. Seth McPherson officiating.
Interment in the Venus Cemetery will follow the service.
