Patricia C (Clemenson) Powell

Patricia C. Powell, 86, of Venus passed away November 3, 2011.

 

Born July 3, 1925 she was the daughter of  the late Glenni H. and Mildred Dearolph Clemenson.

 

She was a 1943 graduate of Shippenville High School.  She was active in sports and music and especially enjoyed playing basketball.  Later, she attended and graduated from the Franklin Business College. 

 

Patricia was married on June 8, 1946 to Robert L. Powell who preceded her in death on October 27, 1995.

 

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus, she had served on Church Council, and was a  member of the Ruth-Faith Circle.

 

Patricia was employed at Owen-Illinois Glass in the A/C Department in Clarion.  While living in California with her husband Robert she was employed by Alhambra Floor Co. in Alhambra California.  Upon returning to Pennsylvania she was employed by Niederriter Electric in Venus.  She and her husband owned and operated Leisure Time Products where they sold Hodaka Motorcycles and other recreational products.

 

She was the treasurer of the Venus Cemetery Association from 1989 until 2001.  She was an active member of the Clarion County Garden Club.

 

In her free time Patricia enjoyed traveling, playing the organ, reading novels, and solving cross-word puzzles. 

 

She is survived by her daughter-in-law Wendy Powell of Venus; two granddaughters, Kristina L. Roup and husband Greg of Pittsburgh and Pamela Powell of Venus; and three great grandchildren, Tristan, Lilee, and Abigail Rose.  Also surviving are her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Lois and Pete Chernicky of Clarion.

 

In addition to her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her son Gary Powell; a brother, Q. "Bud" Clemenson; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law Virginia and William Weaver.

 

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Monday, November 7, 2011 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc in Fryburg. 

 

Funeral services will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in the Faller Funeral Home with the Rev. John A. Wood pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus as the celebrant.

 

Burial will follow in Venus Cemetery.

 

The family suggests memorials be made to Faith Lutheran Church in Venus.
