Norbert Bauer Obituary

     Norbert M. Bauer, age 94 of Marble, passed away September 11, 2025 following a brief illness.

     He was born in Lucinda on May 20, 1931, and was the son of the late Edward Bauer and Florence Griebel Bauer.

     Norb married Marie Weaver of Marble. Their wedding was in the St. Michael Church in May of 1960.

     He was a member of the St. Michael Church in Fryburg; Knights of Columbus Council #11387, and was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Fryburg Sportsman Club; Antler Club of Lucinda, and the Rosary Society of St. Michael Church.

     Norb loved to play cards with his friends at the club, he also loved going on bus trips especially the two-week trip across the United States, and the cruise he and Marie went on to the Caribbean. He also enjoyed working at Octoberfest and the Labor Day Picnic in the bake stand at St. Michael.

     He graduated in 1951 from Farmington High School (North Clarion) and joined the Air Force, serving from 1952 until 1956, 2 years in the states and 2 years in Newfoundland. This was during the Korean War. He was Airman 2nd Class and received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Medal and the Korean War Medal.

     Norb was a barber and graduated from the Orra-Jean Barber School in Erie in 1957. He served his apprenticeship in 1958 at the Transit Barber Shop in Oil City and opened his own shop in Marble in 1960. He served as a barber from 1960 till 2014, 54 years. He also worked at Astro Manufacturing in Shippenville for 23 years, working evenings and Saturdays at the barber shop in Marble.

    He is survived by a son, Terry Bauer of Shippenville; daughter, Connie (Dan) Carroll of Fombell; son-in-law, Dean Bruce of Butler; seven grandchildren: Jared (Ashley) Bruce, Mitchell (Katherine) Carroll, Olivia (Jake Rice) Bauer, Joey (Kalyn) Bruce, Courtney Carroll, Jenna Bruce, and Laryssa (Ethan) Remmick; three great grandchildren: Addyson Bruce, Sydney Bruce, and Reyna Carroll.

     Also surviving are four siblings: Jean Bauer, Stanley Bauer, Virginia Baumcratz, and James (Marge) Bauer, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; four brothers-in-law: Brady Weaver, Charles (Janet) Weaver, David (Gerry) Weaver, and Gary (Karen) Weaver, and sister-in-law, Peg Weaver.

     He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ruthie Bruce; sister-in-law, Rose Bauer; three brothers-in-law: James Baumcratz, Daniel Weaver and Thomas Weaver, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Weaver and Dorothy Weaver.

     Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, September 15, 2025 at the Faller/Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 19200 Route 208, Fryburg.

      A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at St. Michael Church, 18765 Route 208, Fryburg. Father Brandon Kleckner, Parish Priest, will serve as celebrant.

      Interment will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery.
