Mary "Tip" Lutz Obituary

Mary J. "Tip" Hargenrader Lutz, age 83, of Marble, passed away on Sunday, July 7, 2024.

She was born on July 16, 1940, the daughter of William and Mary Schmader Hargenrader.  On May 12, 1962, she married David J. Lutz.

Known for her passion for travel, Tip and Dave enjoyed exploring National Parks and embarking on train journeys across the United States throughout their cherished marriage.

Mary, affectionately called "Tip," was a devoted member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg. She actively participated in the rosary society, enjoyed fellowship at Oktoberfest and noodle-making events, and expressed her faith as a member of the church choir.

Tip retired from her beloved career in the cafeteria at North Clarion schools, and enjoyed making the famous apple crisp for many a family event in years that followed.

She will be fondly remembered for her love of card games, bird-watching, caring for her flowers and cacti, visits to the casino, and most of all, her deep affection for her family and close friends, especially Rosie Hargenrader, who survives her.

Tip is survived by her children Kimberly (Lance) Rathfon of Leeper and Theresa (Matt) Zerbe of Lucinda; her grandchildren Zachary (Danielle) Lutz, Shane (Sara) Lutz, Tabatha Beveridge, Whitney Rathfon, Hilliary (Doug) Lawrence, Gabrielle Rathfon, Leah (Tom) Jessop, and Morgan Zerbe; and her great-grandchildren David, Callie, Alina, Paxton, Harper, Vera, Samantha, Nicolas, Breanna, Dougie, Allie, Jaylynn, Weston, and Spencer.

She is also survived by her siblings Margaret "Peg" Wolbert, Joan Graham, and Janet LaCaze. She was preceded in death by her husband David, her son Mark Lutz, and her brothers Don and Joe Hargenrader.

The family expresses gratitude to her caregiver, Faith, and the Clarion Forest VNA Hospice for their compassionate care and support.

Family and friends will be received from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at the Faller/Rupert Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 19200 Route 208, Fryburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at St. Michael Church, 18765 Route 208, Fryburg.  Reverend Michael Polinek, parish priest, will serve as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the St. Michael Cemetery.
