Lowell L. Sliker, 94, of Tionesta passed away Saturday morning, April 6, 2013 at UPMC Northwest.
Born on April 26, 1918 in Newmansville, PA he was the son of Charles C. and Sarah Mealy Sliker. Lowell Had lived most of his life in the Tionesta area, working a short time in Erie, PA also.
Lowell was raised on a farm and did farm work most of his life. He had enlisted in the United States Army at Fort Knox and was at a base in the Philippines serving during World War II. He worked at Crator Pottery Plant in Shippenville and transferred later to the Tionesta Plant… which later became the Evenflo shop making baby bottles. Lowell retired from Evenflo in 1982.
In his earlier years Lowell enjoyed hunting, traveling, and was always proud of taking care of his home and lawn. He also went to square dances and liked to go out to eat. Lowell did attend Washington Chapel.
He was married to the former Betty Porter in 1950, and she preceded him in death in June of 1977. They had no children. Lowell was the last surviving offspring of a family of 11 children. He had many nieces and nephews who survive. He recently was living with his niece, Stacy Langer of Tionesta. Also surviving is a sister-in-law/brother-in-law Charles and Joy Holt of Tionesta.
Lowell’s immediate family who preceded him in death were eight brothers: Randall, Clyde, Alva, Leon, Archie, Orie, Clair, and Ralph, and two sisters: Bessie Miller and, Twila Willings.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice Chaplain officiating.
Interment will be in the Washington Church Cemetery following the service.
The family requests memorial donations be made to the Clarion-Forest VNA.
