Linda Kay (Smith) Wood

Linda Kay Smith Wood, 59, of Venus passed away February 5, 2013 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer.

Born on October 23, 1953 in St. Joseph Hospital in Buckhannon, WV she was the daughter of Robert Dale and Doris Jean Riffle Smith.

Graduate of Ambridge High School in 1971. 

On September 14, 1974, Holy Cross Day, Linda was married to John Alan Wood who survives.

Linda was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus.  She also served on the Altar Guild and thoroughly enjoyed helping with the vacation bible school programs at the church.

Linda worked out of the Tionesta office for Burns and Burns Insurance as a licensed customer insurance rep.  She also served as a Pine Grove Township Auditor.

She enjoyed gardening, cross stitch, word search puzzles, reading and Zumba.

Linda is survived by her mother Doris, her husband the Rev. John A., and daughters Amy Elizabeth of Baden, PA and Rachael Marie Wood of Pittsburgh and her fiancé Andy Baumcratz of Allison Park.  Sister Evelyn Dessler and husband Paul of New Galilee, PA, father and mother in law Jack and Joan Wood of Baden, PA.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Dale.

There will be no public viewing but family and friends will be greeted at Faith Lutheran Church in Venus on Saturday, February 9, 2013 from 9 to 11am.  A funeral service will be held at 11am in Faith Lutheran Church in Venus, with The Right Reverend Dr. Ralph E. Jones, Bishop, preaching and presiding.

The family asks that memorial contributions in Linda's name be made to  ELCA World Hunger, PO Box 71764, Chicago, IL 60694-1764.
