Lee Allio Obituary

Lee Rodger Allio, 75, of Tionesta, PA went home to be with His Lord May 28, 2014.

Born July 16, 1938 in Kelletville, PA., he was the son of Allen Allio and Minnie Rodgers.

He attended Shriver School at Botzer’s Corners and graduated from West Forest Joint High School.

He was married to his sweetheart, Barbara Mealy on July 13, 1963 at Mt. Zion Church in Red Brush and celebrated 50 years of marriage last year.

Lee attended Christ Fellowship Church in Venus, PA

Prior to becoming a full-time dairy farmer, Lee was employed by Tionesta Railroad, Carl’s Gas Station, Jaun Brothers, and Endeavor Lumber. He was also a night watchman for PennDot, a road master and supervisor for Tionesta Township, and a coal truck driver. In 1960, he took ownership of the family farm, Sunset Farms, and continued to work in the barn until his health prevented him from doing so.

He was a former member of the Oil City Motorcycle Club, Tionesta Volunteer Fire Dept., 4-H, and FFA. He was most currently a director of the Wolfs Corner’s Fair Association.

In his younger days, he enjoyed motorcycle and dirt track racing and won numerous trophies for slow race and obstacle course with his brother, Ted. Until recently, one could watch Lee pull his antique DC Case tractor at the Wolfs Corner’s Fair. He found great joy in raising his children on the farm and living the simple life. In 2010, he and his wife proudly hosted Town and Country Day. Square dancing, drinking coffee, and taking Sunday drives after church were just a few things that Lee and Barb liked to do together. He loved eating his sweets and would often have ice cream eating competitions with his children. Lee also enjoyed listening to music and watching Western movies.

Lee was never one to complain and didn’t worry about much. Uncle Doug would jokingly say that if the barn would have ever caught on fire while Lee was drinking coffee, he would’ve finished his cup and said, “Whelp, we better go see what we can do about that.” He had a great sense of humor.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses whom he loved dearly, Tammy Magness (Guy) of Tionesta; Terri Manross-Paulsen (Joe) of Oil City; Todd Allio (Elizabeth) of Tionesta; Teresa Exley (Nathen) of Venus; and Tonya Johnson (Hank) of Oil City. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, Mariah and MaKayla Magness, Broc and Shyan Manross, Jacob, Isaac, Leah, Noah, and Thomas Allio, Courtney, Katrina, Mailey, and Mason Exley, and Cruze Johnson.

He is also survived by his mother, Minnie Keener of Kane; his brother, Ted Allio and wife Donna of Sitka, AK; his step-sister Susan Kerchensky and husband Tom of Lower Burrell, PA; a special sister-in-law, Shirley Steinman of Tionesta whom he loved dearly; and numerous brother/sister-in-laws, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Allen Allio of Tionesta and his in-laws, Raymond and Lucille Mealy of Lake Lucy.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg.
