Larry "Tom" W. Detar

Larry “Tom” W. Detar, 84, of Fryburg passed away on Monday, December 16, 2019 after a period of declining health.

Born on June 20, 1935 in Fryburg he was the son of David and Loretta (Wurster) Detar.

He attended Shippenville and Farmington Schools.

On November 3, 1956 he was married to the former Mary “Peg” M. (Schettler) Detar who preceded him in death on March 4, 2001.

Tom was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus.

He worked Fryburg Motors and then for North Penn Gas now UGI until his retirement.

Tom enjoyed hunting and spending time in the outdoors.

He was a 50 year member of the Fryburg Sportsman's Club, the Boots and Saddle Club and the Beagle Club.

Tom is survived by his children: Deborah Wolbert and husband Frank of Riverview FL, Pamela Weaver and husband Theodore of Marble, Cassandra Detar of Fryburg and David E Detar and wife Jennifer of Fryburg. He is also survived by grandchildren: Shawn Wolbert and wife Lacey of Valrico FL, Kurt Wolbert and wife Katie of Parish FL, Stephanie Siegel of Fryburg, Jessica Ochs and husband Justin of Lucinda, Adriane Weaver and companion Michael Milner of Indiana and Benjamin Weaver of Farmer Branch TX, and Meagan and Olivia Detar of Fryburg. Great-grandchildren also surviving are Gwen, Brynn, Rowan, and Elin Siegel of Fryburg; Leroy, Samuel, Grace, Ellsie and Stella Ochs of Lucinda; and Drew and Maize Wolbert of Parish FL. Siblings surviving include Jane Schill of Clarion and Judy Baker of Fryburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Peg and brothers Daryl and Clyde.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. 

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church in Venus, with Rev. Deborah Jacobson interim Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church presiding.

Interment will be in the Venus Cemetery following the service.
