Katherine Whitmer Obituary
Katherine N. Whitmer, 99, of Sawtown Rd., Oil City, passed away January 1, 2011 after a brief illness.
Born on January 25, 1911 in San Jose, CA she was the daughter of Nicholas and Helen Nire.
Katherine was married to Samuel A. Whitmer who preceded her in death on July 7, 1974.
Mrs. Whitmer worked at a cannery and label company in California and was also a homemaker for most of her life.
Katherine enjoyed baking for her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting and taking care of her garden and flowers. She also enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Katherine is survived by a daughter Joan Kapp of Venus and a daughter Gayle Whitmer of Venus. She is also survived by grandchildren: Michael R. Kapp, wife Amy and children Tyler and Samuel; Patrick J. Kapp and wife Kathy. Three sisters also survive: Yvonne, Helen, and Ann Nire all of San Jose, CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Mary and Winifred and 2 brothers: Nicholas and Anthony.
There will be no public visitation and the funeral service will be private. Rev. John A. Wood pastor of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus will be conducting the funeral service.
Burial will be in the West Home Free Methodist Cemetery in Emlenton.
Memorials may be made in Katherine's name to Faith Lutheran Church in Venus or a charity of ones choice.
