Helen Irene (Sandrock) Beary

Helen Irene Beary, 92, of Venus passed away, Friday, March 4, 2016 at Oakwood Heights in Oil City.

Born on September 27, 1923 in Venus she was the daughter of Leonard R. and Tressie Goodman Sandrock.

She was a lifelong resident of the Venus area. She lived in Marble from 1944 thru 1964 and operated a dairy farm with her husband. Helen attended the one room school at Henlen and graduated from Shippenville High School in 1941. She then enrolled in the Welsh Business College in Oil City.

On November 8, 1944 Helen was married to Russell L. Beary who preceded her in death on September 29, 2007.

Helen was the first female to be employed by National Fuel as a Field Clerk and she worked at the Hampton Station office. In her spare time she enjoyed embroidery.

She was a member of EUB Church in Venus and then became a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus when she was married. Helen was the church organist for over 60 years beginning in 1950. She was also a member of the Ruth Circle of the Church and also a Sunday School teacher for many years.

Helen is survived by one daughter Kathy Sunderlin and her husband James of Venus, a granddaughter Tammy Varsek and her husband Robert of Venus, two great-grandchildren Nicholas and Lauren Varsek both of Venus and a step-grandson Dana Sunderlin of Oil City. Siblings Maxine Motter of Shippenville, Sandra Umstead and her husband Ron of Kennerdale, and a sister-in-law Lois Sandrock of Conneautville.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Russell, a brother Robert (Sam) Sandrock, a brother Clyde and his wife Melba Sandrock, brother Orval Sandrock and his wife Joanne, a sister Ila May Hartzell and her husband John, a brother Alvin Sandrock, and a brother-in-law Henry Motter.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 from 6:00-7:30pm.

Funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Faith Lutheran Church in Venus, with Rev. John A. Wood, Pastor presiding. Interment will be in the Venus Cemetery following the service.

Memorials in Helen's honor may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or a charity of ones choice.
