Gary L. Groce, 71, of Lucinda, passed away March 15, 2012 following a lengthy illness. He had struggled with many side effects from an injury 15 years ago.
Born October 1, 1940 he was the son of John Leroy and LaWanda Val Jean Miller Groce.
Gary was a graduate of Clarion High School.
He served his country in the Army, Station in El Paso, Texas.
On August 19, 1967 Gary was married to Denise Karg who survives.
He was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg.
Prior to his accident Gary worked for Joy Manufacturing in Franklin for 30 years.
He enjoyed farming. Gary was a proud man who loved his wife and children.
Gary is survived by his wife of 44 years Denise and their children: Lynn Galbraith and her husband Dwane of Mayport, Karen (Groce) Henry of Lucinda, Eric Groce of Brookville and Dale Groce and wife Tina of Pittsburgh. Gary had eleven grandchildren: Kyle Galbraith, Kirsten Groce, Tyler Galbraith, Christopher Henry, Sara Galbraith, Lauren Groce, Amanda Groce, Amy Henry, Alaina Groce, Evan Groce, and Alivia Groce. He is also survived by a sister Patty Winger and her husband Jack of Shippenville, and sister-in-law Shirley Groce of Shippenville. Many nieces and nephews also survive.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother Grant Groce.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg.
A parish vigil service will be held at 6:45pm on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the funeral home.
A Mass of a Christian Burial will held at 10 am on Monday, March 19, 2012 at St. Michael Church in Fryburg with Rev. DG Davis III officiating.
Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the mass.
