Francis M. Whitmire, 79, of Venus, formerly of Brookville, OH passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at UPMC Northwest after a brief period of declining health.
Born on January 24, 1934 in Cranberry Twp. PA, he was the son of Frank M. and Winnie B. Strain Whitmire.
Francis was married on February 15, 1958 to the former Delores Agnes Beichner who preceded him in death on October 26, 2004.
He was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg and also Precious Blood Church in Dayton OH.
Francis was an Engineering Manager for the Hobart Corporation of Troy OH for 38 years.
He enjoyed deer hunting, riding his ATV, yard work, and working on his many projects around the house.
Francis served in United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and he also flew in weather recon missions over Japan.
He is survived by sons Brian L. Whitmire of Greenville, OH and Daniel B. Whitmire and his wife Mary Eileen of Clarion. Also surviving are two grandchildren Megan A. and Lucas D. Whitmire both of Greenville OH. Siblings surviving include: John E. Whitmire and his wife Janet of Oil City; Phyllis Farren and her husband Glenn of Oil City; Barbara Otte of NC; Ruby Cozad and husband Philip of Cranberry; Alice Bramlett and husband Gary of St. Cloud, FL; and Loretta Wessell and husband Dan of Seneca.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolores and a brother Daniel B. Whitmire.
As per his wishes there will be no public visitation. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 10:00 am in St. Michael Church, Fryburg with Rev. D.G. Davis III, pastor, presiding.
Burial will be in the Royal Oak Cemetery in Clayton, OH.
