Frances E. Ochs, 97, of Fryburg passed away peacefully on April 17, 2016 at her home after a short illness.
Born on May 29, 1918 in the Washington House in Fryburg she was the daughter of Aloysius and Emma Schmader Ditz.
She attended 1st through 8th grades at St. Michael School in Fryburg, graduated from Shippenville High School and attended Gannon College in Erie.
Frances was married to Arthur J. Obenrader on June 14, 1939 and he preceded her in death. Serveral years later she was married to Albinus J. Ochs who also preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg.
Frances retired from the library of Clarion University in 1983. She enjoyed bird watching, making superior quilts for family and friends, Thursday night card games with her sons and daughter-in-laws, and playing bingo. She loved the company of her cats, Lady and Minx, and she treasured the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren as well as her extended family and friends.
She is survived by her children Ann (Donald) Horne, Rose Mary (Melvin) Boyd, Ruth (Jim) Harteis, Jeanne (Ron) Hantman, Jim (Barb) Obenrader, Polly Bradley, Mark (Sue) Obenrader, Art (Nancy) Obenrader, Tom (Kate) Obenrader, Rick (Terri) Obenrader, Don Obenrader and his partner Craig Dietz, twenty-seven grandchildren and twenty-seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Gerald Ditz, and sisters Ruth Jeannerat and Joan Donahue, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husbands she was preceded in death by her daughter Fran Schueler, her sisters Mary Rose Ditz and Aggie McCloskey, and her brother Robert “Mex” Ditz.
Faller Funeral Home, Inc. of Fryburg will be caring for the family. Friends will be received on Thursday, April 21, 2016 from 11 am to 12 pm at St. Michael Church in Fryburg. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at St. Michael Church in Fryburg with Fr. Matt Ruyechan, pastor of St. Stephen Church in Oil City presiding.
Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery.
