Ethel M. Sharpe, 83, of the Oil City area passed away Sunday, November 20, 2011 after a lengthy illness.
Born April 5, 1928 she was the daughter of Leanus and Irene Hartle Rapp who preceded her in death.
She was married to John E. Sharpe who preceded her in death on November 18, 1988.
Ethel was a member of St. Stephen Church in Oil City.
She worked at Shippenville Pottery and Rice Trailer sales. Outside of work she enjoyed cooking, canning, quilting, embroidering, trips to the casino, yard sales and spending time with her family.
Ethel is survived by her 10 children; Edward Sharpe and his wife Jean of Oil City; Evelyn Whitmore and her husband Paul of Knox; John Sharpe and his companion Tess Snyder of Venus; Susan Swift and her companion Stan McCleary of Knox; Raymond Sharpe and his wife Fay of Seneca; Kenneth Sharpe and his wife Debra of Seneca; Diane Ostrowski of Oil City; Julie Prody and husband Tom of Fertigs; Pamela Eismont and her husband Stephen of Coal Hill; and Rosemary Utzinger and her husband William of Oil City. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Ethel had fourteen brothers and sisters, Anna Snyder, Kat Larrow, Harold Rapp, Richard Rapp, Bard Buzard, Robert Rapp, Paul Rapp, Frank Rapp all survive.
She is preceded in death by her parent, husband, and 6 brothers and sisters; Albert, George, Jerry, Chuckie, Dorothy, and David.
Friends and family will be received from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm, on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg.
Parish vigil service will be celebrated at 6:45pm on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg.
Mass of a Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at St. Michael Church in Fryburg with Rev. D.G. Davis III, pastor as the celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass.
The family suggests that memorial be made to Children's Hospital in Pittsburgh.
