Ethel M. Schmader Banner, 89, formerly of Shippenville passed away on January 3, 2017 at the Clarion Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born on March 3, 1927 in Lucinda, PA she was the daughter of Maurice and Philomena Bauer Schmader.
She was a Clarion High School graduate.
She was married for 60 years to Charles (Slim) Banner who preceded her in death on September 3, 2007.
Ethel was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg.
She started out her career as a teller for First Seneca Bank and retired as the manager of First Seneca Bank in Shippenville.
Ethel enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ethel is survived by her son Theodore (Ted) Banner and his wife Nancy of Knox, and a daughter-in-law Betty Jo Banner of Clarion. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Theodore Banner and wife Lisa of Pleasantville, Jeffrey Banner and wife Brianna of Grove City, Christopher Banner and wife Sarah of Harrisburg, Lindsay Banner of Baltimore, and Andrew Banner and wife Kate of Dallas, and eight great-grandchildren Joe, Alexis, Katherine, Caden, Chloe, Colten, Sam and Stella.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles (Slim), her sons Robert C. Banner who died Oct. 1, 1972 and Anthony (Tony) Banner who died Sept. 2, 2011. Ethel was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Saturday, January 7, 2016 at St. Michael Church in Fryburg with Rev. Joe Czarkowski, Pastor of St. Joseph Church in Lucinda presiding. Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the mass.
Memorials in Ethel's honor may be made to St. Michael Church in Fryburg.
