Esther Beck Obituary

 Esther M. Beck, 89, formerly of Venus passed away at the Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice House in Shippenville on Thursday, October 28, 2010.

 
Born August 15, 1921 near Fryburg, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Julia McCauley Glass.
 
On August 24, 1946 she was married to Richard J. Beck who preceded her in death on September 24, 1960.
 
She was a lifelong resident of the Venus area.
 
Esther was a graduate of Clarion State Teachers College with a degree in Elementary Education and earned her Master Degree in Elementary Reading from Clarion State College in 1970.
 
She taught for 32 years in the Cranberry School District starting in a one room school house. She also spent a couple of years as a remedial reading teacher traveling to 6 different schools in the district.
 
She was a member of Venus Evangelical Church where she served as a Sunday and Bible School Teacher for several years, served as church librarian and a member of the memorial committee.
 
Esther enjoyed reading, knitting, cross word puzzles, gardening and traveling. She especially enjoyed traveling to historic sites which included Yellow Stone National Park, the Grand Canyon, and Mount Rushmore.
 
She is survived by daughters: Mary Louise Caffarel and husband Dennis of Erie; and Ginny Aaron and husband Bob of Marble. A granddaughter Christi VanDyke and husband Tom of Erie along with their children Aaron John and Rhyleigh.
 
Surviving siblings include: Roger Glass and wife Barb, Dick Glass and wife Mary, Bob Glass and wife Dorothy, Leroy Glass, Paul Glass and wife Mary all of Venus; Betty Culbertson and Margie Gifford of Oil City and Jennie Morrison of Jackson, SC. She is also survived by in-laws Ralph Osborn of Meadville, Betty Glass of Oil City and Helen King of Venus along with numerous nieces and nephews. 
 
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her grandson Richard Aaron, brothers: Charles, Lawrence, Lester Jr and James and a sister Ethel Osborn.
 
Friends and family will be received from 1pm to 4 pm on Sunday, October 31, 2010 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg. Funeral services will be conducted at 4pm in the funeral home with Rev. Richard Kightlinger pastor of Venus Evangelical Church officiating.
 
Interment will be in the Venus Cemetery.
