Erla A. (Harriett) Hoffman

Erla A. Harriett (LaCaze) Hoffman, age 90, of  Fryburg was surrounded by her family as she went to be with the Lord on March 5, 2013.  

Born February 3, 1923 in Shippenville, she was the daughter of Earl J. and Sarah Lavina Amsler Harriett.

She was a graduate of Shippenville High School in 1940.  She worked at Oil City Hospital, and as an artist at Shippenville Pottery.  Most of her life she lived in Venus and Fryburg area.

On May 22, 1957, Erla was  married to Louis H. Hoffman who preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1984.

She was an active member of the Venus United Evangelical Church and the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary.

Erla enjoyed spending time with her family, completing cross word puzzles, she was an avid reader, spending time gardening, and she also enjoyed sewing.

She is survived by a daughters Shirley Confer of Stow, OH; Carolyn Jagielski of Venus; Linda Griebel of Wichita KA; and sons Leonard (Sonny) Hoffman and wife Verna of Shippenville; Robert Hoffman and wife Sandra of Boca Raton FL; Henry (Skip) Hoffman and wife Marie of Oil City; Rex Allen LaCaze and wife Lynda of Albion.  She is also survived by daughter-in-laws Janet LaCaze and Becky Hoffman both of Fryburg; sister-in-law Ruth Harriett of Lake Lucy; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a very special friend Margie Gifford of Oil City.

Erla was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis, a daughter Barbara Hoffman Kennedy, sons Randall Lee LaCaze, William T. Hoffman, a sister Rudy Whitman, a brother Donald Harriett, and a grandsons Michael A Hoffman and Brian Hoffman and son-in-laws, Al Kennedy, Don Griebel and Rich Jagielski.

Friends will be received on Thursday March 7, 2013 at the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Faller Funeral Home Inc. in Fryburg on Friday March 8, 2013 at 11 am with Rev. Richard Kightlinger, pastor officiating.

Burial will be in the Venus Cemetery following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department in Fryburg or Great Lakes Hospice, 1700 Peach Street, Suite 244, Erie, PA 16501.
