Douglas Allen Horner, 45, of Orlando, FL passed away January 11, 2016 after a sudden illness.
Born on April 15, 1970 in Clarion he was the son of Donald J. and Ethel Mae Shockey Horner.
Douglas attended the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf, in Pittsburgh and graduated in 1989. He then attended the National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester NY where he earned an Associates Degree in Finance and Accounting.
He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Venus.
In 1993 Douglas moved to Florida and started work at Walt Disney World. Later he went to work for UPS doing data entry, then he went to work for Yellow Freight and finally he was hired full time by American Freightways which later was bought by Fed-Ex.
He always had an interest in the stock market, and he was an avid stamp and coin collector.
In his younger years he was a member of the Washington Township Pig Pushers 4-H Club, he became a member of the East Coast Deaf Club in Florida, he was also a member of the National Deaf Association.
Douglas is survived by his parents and a sister Rhonda Bendal and her husband Larry R. of Tionesta. Also surviving are niece Sarah Bendal, nephews Charlie and Larry J. Bendal all of Fryburg and a great-nephew Kyle Kim. Several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by an infant brother Jeffery.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, January 18, 2016 at the Faller Funeral Home in Fryburg.
Funeral Services and Liturgy will be conducted at Faith Lutheran Church, Venus, on Tuesday, January 19 at 11:00 a.m., Rev. John A. Wood will officiate.
On Wednesday, January 20, 2016 friends will be received at Deaner Funeral Home, Inc. 133 E. Main St., Stoystown, PA 15563, from 10am to 11:30am. Internment will be at 11:30am at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Stoystown with Rev. John A. Wood will be officiating.
Memorials in Douglas's honor may be made to Western PA School for the Deaf, Development Office, 300 East Swissvale Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218.
