Clyde Sandrock Obituary

Clyde L. Sandrock, 90, of Venus passed away June 30, 2012 at The Caring Place in Franklin 

Born on July 27, 1921 he was the son of Leonard and Tressie I. Goodman Sandrock.

 

He graduated from Shippenville High School.

 

On July, 13, 1946 Clyde was married to Melba L. Reed Sandrock who preceded him in death on April 30, 2002. 

 

He was a member of the Venus United Evangelical Church, where he served as a Trustee and Youth Leader.

 

Clyde was an Auto Body Mechanic at Venus Motors for 43 years. 

 

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  Clyde also enjoyed hunting, gardening and bowling. 

 

He was a member of the American Legion Post 32 in Oil City.

 

Clyde served in the United States Army Air Force from 1942-1946 and earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.

 

He is survived by his children: Wanda Ames and her husband Ron of Erie; Suzanne Siegel of Venus; Tom Sandrock and his wife Patty of Oil City; Todd Sandrock and his wife Laurie of Oil City; and Terry (Ted) Sandrock and his wife Linda of Seneca.  Grandchildren surviving include: Leanne Clark and Nicole McKay of Erie; Loren Ames of Tallahassee, FL; Keith Siegel of Clarion; Craig Siegel of Fryburg; Tina Kean of Venus; Angela Lesko of Venus; James Sandrock of Oil City; Shaina Sandrock of Oil City; Christopher Sandrock of Franklin; Matthew Sandrock of Charlotte, NC; Timothy Sandrock of Oil City; Melissa Sandrock of Lancaster; and Alyson Sandrock of Erie.  Twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchildren also survive. 

 

Sister Helen Beary of Venus; sister Maxine Motter of Venus ; Sandra (Sis)Umstead and husband Ron of Rockland; Brother Alvin Sandrock and wife Lois of Conneautville.

 

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a grandson Joel Siegel and a son-in-law Pete Siegel.  Also preceding him in death are a sister Ila May Schwab Hartzell and husband John; a brother Ronald (Sam) Sandrock; a brother Orval Sandrock and his wife Joann; an infant sister Betty Lou Sandrock; and brother-in-laws: Russ Beary, Henry Motter, and Wade Schwab.

 

Friends and family will be receive from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm on Monday, July 2, 2012 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Venus United Evangelical Church with Rev. Richard Kightlinger, Pastor, officiating.  Interment will follow in the Venus Cemetery.

 

The family suggests memorials be made to The Caring Place of Franklin, or Venus United Evangelical church.
