Charles H. Beichner, Jr., 86 of Shippenville, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 25, 2010 from injuries received in an auto accident.
Born July 5, 1924 at RD Shippenville, he was the son of Charles H. Beichner Sr. and Clara Denslinger Beichner.
Mr. Beichner was a lifelong resident of Shippenville area and graduated from Shippenville High School in 1942.
He served in the US Army during WWII and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands.
He was married on August 27, 1945 to Ruth A. Lenhart who preceded him in death on February 20, 1993.
Mr. Beichner was a truck driver for C.W. Allaman and Sons Coal Co. for 5 years and PENDOT for 5 years. He also was employed by Clarion County for 18 years where he served as Chief Clerk and director of Veterans Affairs. Mr. Beichner also worked as a salesman for Wolf Furniture until retirement.
He was a member of Clarion American Legion and placed flags on veterans graves for over 30 years. He was responsible for 12 cemeteries including Phipps, Wedekind, and Perry Chapel. Mr. Beichner was also a member of Clarion VFW and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a Boy Scout leader and he was involved Little League Baseball.
Mr. Beichner was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg and the St. Michaels Society of the Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus 7549 at I.C. Church in Clarion.
Mr. Beichner enjoyed spending time with his family, a good card game, local car races, and visiting friends and neighbors. He also enjoyed spending time with his many grandchildren.
Mr. Beichner is survived by five sons and two daughters: Michael and wife Michele of New Castle; Charles J. and wife Karla of Knox; Richard and wife Trudy of Brookville; Daniel and wife Esther of Knox; Kevin and wife Jayne of Shippenville; Jeanne Persing and husband Larry of Seneca; and Lisa Heller and husband Max of Clarion. 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren also survive. Mr. Beichner is also survived by special friend Jean Schill.
Mr. Beichner was preceded in death by his parents and wife. He is also preceded in death by two sisters: Frances Fesenmyer and Margaret Aaron and one brother Bernard J. Beichner.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc in Fryburg. Parish vigil service will be held at 3:45 PM in the funeral home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in St. Michael Church Fryburg with the pastor Rev. David Poulson as the celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the St. Michael Church - Msgr. Theobald Fund of Fryburg.
