Catherine "Cass" Guth Karg, 78, of Fryburg passed away, surrounded by her family, November 2, 2011 at Golden Living Shippenville after a lengthy illness.
Born June 21, 1933 she was the daughter of the late John and Genevieve Fletcher Guth.
Cass was a graduate of Shippenville High School.
She was married on May 31, 1952 to James E. Karg at St. Michael Church by Father Theobald. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
Cass was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg.
She worked for Evenflo Crater in Tionesta for 30 years until her retirement.
Outside of work Cass enjoyed cooking, gardening and spend time doing yard work.
She is survived by her husband, a son James L. Karg and his wife Trish of Tylersburg, and a daughter Linda Frederick of Tylersburg. Grandchildren surviving include: JJ Karg and his wife Jess, Tyler Karg and his wife Meredith, Tori Panzar and her husband Tim, Toby Karg and his wife Jordan, Eric Frederick, Josh Frederick and companion Erin, and Jess Lencer and her husband Steve. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Owen Karg, McKinzie Lencer, Maddison Lencer and Michaela Lencer. A sister Eileen Schill and her husband Stanley, sister-in-law Vickie Plues and her husband Bill, brother-in-law Tom Karg and his wife Elaine and brother-in-law Gene Karg and his wife Sarah also survive. Many nieces and nephews and special friends Ed and Dorothy Elliott and Nita Baumgarten also survive.
Cass was preceded in death by her parents, and a son-in-law Bill Frederick. Sisters preceding her in death include Mary Heffner, Margie Esplen, and Helen Lenhart. A brother-in-law Jack Karg also preceded her in death.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Faller Funeral Home, Inc in Fryburg. Parish vigil service will be held at 6:45 PM in the funeral home.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Monday, November 7, 2011 in St. Michael Church Fryburg with the Rev. D.G. Davis II pastor of St. Michael Church in Fryburg as the celebrant.
Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of ones choice.
