Bernie A. Ditz, 81, of Fryburg, passed away November 24, 2010.
Born January 20, 1929 in Fryburg he was the son of Lawrence and Marcella Loll Ditz, who preceded him in death.
He was married at St. Michael Church on May 8, 1953 to Madeline Beary who survives.
Mr. Ditz attended St. Michael School.
Mr. Ditz was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg.
Mr. Ditz served in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart for his service.
He was a truck driver all of his life and retired from Georgia Pacific in Marble.
Mr. Ditz was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and horse shoes. He also enjoyed playing cards.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters: Dianne Beary and her husband Dave of Pin City, Becky Hoffman of Fryburg, and Cathy Strotman and husband Mike of Lake Lucy. Three sons also survive: Ben Ditz of Fryburg, Malcolm Ditz of Oil City, and Fred Ditz and fiancee Deana Schmader of Clarion. A daughter-in-law Barbara Ditz Lake Lucy, a sister Betty Lou Ditz of Philadelphia, eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Three sister-in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death an infant daughter Joyce and a son Valentine. Also preceding him in death were three brothers and two sisters.
There will be no public visitation.
Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am Saturday November 27, 2010 in St. Michael Church, Fryburg, with Rev. Chris Hamlett, pastor as the presider.
Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to St. Michael Church of Fryburg.
