Barbara Ann (Mealy) Allio, 79, of Tionesta, PA went home to be with her Lord on May 9, 2024.
Born July 21, 1944 in Erie, Pa, she was the daughter of Raymond and Lucille Mealy.
She graduated from North Clarion High School.
She was married to her sweetheart, Lee Allio on July 13, 1963 at Mt. Zion Church in Red Brush. They had celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Barb attended Christ Fellowship Church in Venus, PA.
Along with being a homemaker, Barb worked at a variety of places throughout life. She was employed by New Process, Seneca Printing, Todd E. Beichner Auctioneer, and Long Acres Potato Farm.
She was the walking definition of a homemaker. Barb enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, canning, sewing, and quilting. She was the neighborhood seamstress and the “hostess with the most-est”. Many visitors stopped at the house/farm unannounced, but they could always count on having one of mom’s desserts and a hot cup of coffee. There was always enough food. Boredom was not in her vocabulary- she didn’t believe a person had any reason for it. Barb loved to clean, and it didn’t stop at the house. Anytime she was out walking or driving she would stop to pick up litter along the way and looked forward to the annual Tionesta Township cleanup days.
She was an excellent mother who instilled her values and nurtured creativity in her children. “You can do anything you want to if you put your mind to it” was her motto. Barb loved her children deeply and always lent a helping hand. She spent a lot of time with family and looked forward to a yearly tradition of making sugar cookies on the first day of Buck (deer season).
In her younger days she and her husband were members of the Oil City Motorcycle Club. She was a director on the Wolf’s Corners Fair Association for many years. Some of her favorite fair activities were signing in the demo derby drivers and entering exhibits in the fair. She served as a poll worker and Judge of Elections for Tionesta Township. She quilted with the Peacemakers church group in Tionesta and made quilts for all her children.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Tammy Magness (Guy) of Tionesta, Terri Manross-Paulsen (Joe) of Oil City, Todd Allio (Elizabeth) of Tionesta, Teresa Exley (Nathen) of Venus; and Tonya Johnson (Hank) of Oil City. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren, Mariah Magness, MaKayla (Magness) Hoffman, Broc and Shyan Manross, Jacob, Isaac, Leah, Noah, and Thomas Allio, Courtney (Exley) Cornett, Katrina, Mailey, and Mason Exley, and Cruze, Ellie, and Jett Johnson, and 3 great-grand children.
She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Donna (Ted) Allio, Kathy (Mike) Williams, John (Christy) Mealy, Nancy (Charlie) Weaver, Shirley Steinman, Jerry (Leasa) Mealy, Mike (Kathy) Mealy, and Mary (Ted) Harrison, as well as a sister-in-law Diane Mealy and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee, her parents Raymond and Lucille Mealy, father-in-law Allen (Pap) Allio, mother-in-law Minnie Keener, brother David Mealy, a brother-in-law Doug Steinman, and a niece Wanda (Mealy) Huffman.
The family would like to give a special thank-you to all her wonderful caregivers, past and present: Elaine Daum, Carissa Chambers, Candie Ginnery, Tracy Steigerwald, Denise Greathouse, Brenda Harbison, Cheryl Quiggle, Nan Shoupp, Doreen Jones, Carol Witherell, and Haley Bruns.
The family would also like to thank Tionesta Ambulance and Community Ambulance for their great care, compassion and service.
The meeting is finally over. You can go home.
Friends will be received on Monday, May 13, 2024 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14 2024 at 11 am with Denny Weaver officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Red Brush.
