Robert J. Gentile

Robert J Gentile, 75, of Fryburg passed away June 11, 2017 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh after a lengthy illness. 

Born on January 5, 1942, in Scranton, PA he was the son of the late Vito and Stella Lesinski Gentile.

Robert served in the US Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Technician and was discharged from service on January 4, 1964.  After his military service, he enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police Acedemy and graduated in 1966.  During his career in the State Police he was stationed at the Barracks in Strattanville, Shippenville, and Tionesta.  At the end of his career he was assigned to the Pennsylvania State Police Canine Unit. 

On April 27, 1968 he was married to the former Kay Banner Gentile who survives.

He was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg and the Knights of Columbus.

When Robert was not working you could find him on the golf course, taking care of his yard, and giving the neighborhood children rides on his golf cart.  He was a member of the National Fraternal Order of Police, American Association of State Troopers, The American Legion, and the NRA. 

Robert is survived by his wife Kay and their children James Gentile and his wife Christel of Chicora, Jason Gentile and his wife Missy of Slippery Rock and Jody Doutt and her husband Dana of Utica.  Grandchildren surviving include Treh and Bria Gillott, Andriane Felmlee and Cody Doutt, and Brooke and Sarah Gentile.  He is also survived by a brother Donald Gentile of Reading.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. 

He was preceded in death by his parents.

As per his wishes there will be no public visitations.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 10:00 AM in St. Michael Church, with Rev. Joseph Czarkowski Pastor as celebrant.

Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass.

Memorials in Robert's honor may be made to Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh, and the Family House at 5245 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.
