Richard J. Schmader, 80, of Shippenville passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on December 8, 1938 in Shippenville he was the son of Richard K and Jesse B. Weaver Schmader.
He attended North Clarion High School before entering into the United States Army. He served in Company B, Third Battalion at Fort Jackson, SC from 1959 to 1962 and earned the rank of Private.
On June 15, 1963 he was married to Margaret D. Edmonds Schmader who survives. They had celebrated 55 ½ years of marriage.
Richard was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg.
He spent most of his career in mechanical maintenance working for Koppers in Marble, Crown Farms in Crown, Lyle Miller in Venus, and Car Mate Trailers in Leeper.
Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in his garage, he was an avid gardener and woodsman. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
Richard is survived be his wife Margaret, his sons Richard L Schmader and wife Sue, John J. Schmader and wife Kris, Michael E. Schmader and special friend Tabby Irwin; daughters Cheryl L Buzard and husband Michael, Jessica Burns and husband Alex, Lisa A. Stromyer and husband Matt. Also surviving are twenty-four grandchildren and thirty-five great-grandchildren. His sister Julie Perry also survives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Kimberly Schmader, and brothers Kenneth Schmader, Patrick Schmader, Frances (Nick) Schmader, Alan Schmader, and Jeffery Schmader.
Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
