Delilia "Bunchie" May Ochs of Fryburg died suddenly Saturday, July 14. She was 88.
Born Feb. 11, 1930, she was the youngest daughter of John G. and Chloetilda (Hartle) Weaver.
She was a graduate of the Lauer Normal School in Shippenville and Oil City School of Cosmetology in 1968.
December 31, 1949, she married Bernard A. Ochs, who preceded her in death in 2001.
Mrs. Ochs was a devoted lifelong member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Fryburg, where she also was a member of the Rosary Society.
She was employed at the Clarion Glass Plant and Clarion Dry Cleaners before opening Delilia's Beauty Salon in Fryburg in 1968, which she owned and operated for more than 30 years.
She also was an accomplished musician, performing in several bands, most notably the Melodyaires. She enjoyed country and bluegrass music and opened in the early 1960s for some national acts at Ponderosa Park in Ohio. Mrs. Ochs played a number of instruments, but her favorite was the accordion. In addition to her music, she was a meticulous house cleaner and enjoyed watching the Steelers.
Mrs. Ochs is survived by her four children, Eulalia "Eukie" Lolley of Fryburg, Carmelita (Terry) Blair of Clarion, Matthew Ochs of Knox and Thaddeus (Marcia) Ochs of Delmont, eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are two sisters, Eulalia Frederick of Youngsville and Patricia Francisco of Marble..
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law Dale Lolley, a grandson Robert Swogger and two sisters Virginia (Robert) Smerkar and Jessie (Richard) Schmader and a brothers-in-law Eugene Francisco and Clyde Frederick.
Friends will be received at Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg from 7 to 9 p.m on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 and 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Mass of a Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Fryburg with Rev. Joseph Czkarowski, presiding.
Interment will follow at the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery.
