Clair Bauer Obituary

Clair H Bauer, 88, of Lake Lucy passed away on Saturday, June 29, 2019 after period of declining health.

Born on August 23, 1930 in Lucinda, he was the son of Ambrose and Regina Beichner Bauer.

Clair was married Oct. 10, 1953, to Dorothy E. Groner Bauer who preceded him in death on April 2, 2005.

He was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg.

Clair worked for Siegel Coal Company until he bought his own truck and went into business for himself. He was known as Blueberry on the CB, Dutch by his close friends, Bad PAPA by his great-grandchildren due to his teasing nature, and Clair Bear loving by his nurses at Snyder Memorial in Marienville.

The family would like to thank Snyder Memorial for the love and  care this past year.

He was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, metal detecting and coin collecting.

Clair was a member of the Fryburg Sportsman's Club

He is survived by a son, Kenneth Bauer and wife, Barbara, of Wattsburg; two daughters, Angelene McCloskey and husband, C. Douglas, of Lickingville, and Pauline "Pauley" Hargenrader and husband Perry of Venus; and eight grandchildren, Brock McCloskey and wife Gwyn of Savannah GA, Jill Spence and husband, Tom. of Shippenville, Garrett McCloskey and wife Jennifer of Wakeman OH, Daniel Fink and wife Marie of Emlenton, Brenton McCloskey of Philadelphia, Stacy Siegel and husband Brian of Venus and Karlie and Kayla Bauer of Wattsburg. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren: Joey and Brooklyn Spence; Sophia, Jase, and Abigale McCloskey; Aniston, Ethan, and Avarie Siegel; and Logan Fink. He also is survived by siblings: Dolores Witmer of Ontario Canada; Regis Bauer and wife Peg of Indianapolis IN; Germaine Dobrich of Youngstown OH; Elaine Bauer of FL; Gerard Bauer and wife Agnes of Lucinda; and Nancy Zdeb and husband Paul of CO. Also surviving are a sister-in-law Lucille Bauer of Bradford, brother-in-law Bob Cooke of FL; two brothers-in-law, Edward Groner and wife, Mary Ann, Regis Huefner and wife Carol, and a sister-in-law Virginia Groner all of Shippenville. He was a proud Godfather of 11.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jolene Rose; a daughter Kristine Fink and her husband Rodney, brother Dennis Bauer, sisters Mary Selker and her husband Joseph and Rita Banner and her husband Bernard, a brother-in-law Joe Ochs, a brother-in-law Joseph Groner and a sister-in-law Sister M. Suzanne (Agnes) O.S.B. and a sister-in-law Veronica "Noni" Huefner.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm.  

Mass of a Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 10 am in St. Michael Church with Rev. Joseph Czkarowski, Pastor of St. Michael Church presiding. 

Interment will be in the St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass.

Memorials in Clair's honor may be made to St. Michael Church Roof Fund.
